Carnac rivals the Quiberon peninsula for its beaches. But what will interest you most in this part of Morbihan is certainly the prehistoric sites. Learn a little about the history of the Celtic people in France with the megaliths, these imposing menhirs lined up parallel for a few kilometres, as if we'd finally discovered where a certain Gallic, strong and moustachioed with two plaits, kept his stones! But be warned: the Carnac alignments are open to the public from October to March. From April to September, the site is open to paying visitors on guided tours, for reasons of heritage conservation.
The megalithic sites at Carnac are recognised as one of Europe's most important prehistoric sites, and have been listed as Historical Monuments since 1889! Definitely worth a visit!
